In my painting practice, I digitally manipulate found photographs sourced from diverse outlets, constructing a liminal space that reimagines Black presence in visual culture, specifically within the Transatlantic Black diaspora. The act of discovering images is both foundational and transformative, unraveling the essence of the diasporic psyche. After selection, I digitally manipulate images to transcend temporal boundaries, navigating the tension between realism and symbolic abstraction—a crucial aspect of my practice. The materiality of paint is the basis from which I begin to construct an image; I employ diverse media, unconventional materials, and experimental methods to create distinctive textural effects. My fascination lies in nuanced layering, suggesting temporality.

My artistic practice brings attention to daily life, revealing beauty in the Black mundane. It establishes connections between intimate moments and the collective psyche within the Transatlantic Black diaspora. Shared experiences unfold, enriching a broader cultural tapestry. Through this, I seek to cultivate a heightened appreciation for shared human experiences, prompting viewers to engage with the ordinary in extraordinary circumstances.
